Located at the entrance channel to Port Everglades, this new state-of-the-art 87,000 gsf $40 million research / collaboration space (part of NSU’s Guy Harvey Oceanographic Center) houses the wide range of disciplines required for integrated coral reef studies: hydrodynamics, genomics, geospatial analysis and mapping, and plant and animal biodiversity studies. Built to withstand coastal storm surges and hurricanes, the unique structure was designed around maximum lab flexibility with wide expanses of glass and elliptical structural slabs. The LEED Silver facility contains laboratories, office spaces, workstations, a 120-person auditorium, seminar rooms, and a small library.
