Hollywood Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital
Hollywood, FL (2010)

The project involved adding very large Central Energy Plants to two adjacent hospital structures on the same site: the existing Hollywood Memorial Hospital and the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, which was added on five years later. The challenge was to keep noise/mechanical vibrations from large HVAC and electrical-generation equipment from disturbing surgeons at work, patients at rest, and critical care newborns fighting for their lives. Ed's designs offset both CEP structures from their respective buildings by mere inches, isolating noise and vibrations but preserving proximity for efficient service.
